The monsoon, June to September, is when Koraput is greenest and Duduma waterfall is loud and large. It is also when the views from the hilltops come and go with the cloud, rocks near water turn slippery, and a spare day in the plan pays off.

What suits the rain, and what to leave for drier days

Water and wet rocks
- Rocks near waterfalls are slippery: wear shoes with grip and hold children's hands.
- At Duduma the Machkund dam upstream can release water without warning; in August 2025 a release swept a visitor away. Stay out of the water.
- At Rani Duduma, stay on the paths and out of the water, especially after heavy rain.
Roads in the rains
- We drive long hill roads in daylight and avoid ghat roads late at night.
- Landslides have blocked the Koraput–Borigumma road before; we give same-day updates on that road, so message us on the day.
- Roads to interior villages can be disrupted in the peak monsoon; if Onukadelli, Talamali, Kalyamali or Nandapur matter to you, tell us when you ask for a quote.
- Keep a spare day in the plan for heavy rain.
What to pack
- An umbrella or a rain jacket for everyone.
- Shoes with grip, and a spare pair.
- A spare set of clothes in a plastic bag.
- Plastic covers for phones and cameras near the falls.
