Getting to Koraput from Kolkata

  • Direct train: the Samaleswari Express (18005) leaves Howrah at 10:10 PM and reaches Koraput at 7:15 PM the next day. It is a night and a day on board, comfortable in AC classes, and the last stretch through the Eastern Ghats is beautiful in daylight. Koraput train timings has the full timetable.
  • Fly to Visakhapatnam: one evening flight from Kolkata (IndiGo, 5:45 PM), then the next morning's IndiaOne Air hop to Jeypore (9:20 AM to 10:05 AM), about four and a half hours by road from the new airport at Bhogapuram, or the slow scenic train on the Kirandul line. We can send the Traveller to Visakhapatnam for the whole trip if that suits your group.
  • Fly to Bhubaneswar: then IndiaOne Air to Jeypore (6:30 AM or 12:30 PM, about 95 minutes) or the overnight Hirakhand Express to Koraput. OSRTC buses also leave Bhubaneswar 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and take 11 to 12 hours.
