Where is Duduma Waterfall?
The falls are near Badigada village. The Machkund river splits into two drops here, one in Odisha and one in Andhra Pradesh.

Duduma Waterfall is 175 metres (574 ft) high. The Machkund river drops into a deep, forested gorge.
Best time to visit Duduma Waterfall
Visit in the monsoon, June to September, to see the falls loud and large, with lush green hills all around. In winter, enjoy visits to other places around Koraput on the same trip. Bring warm clothes: winter nights in Koraput can drop to 3 °C.
Wet rocks and sudden water releases
Keep away from the waterfall edge. The rocks there are slippery. If small children are with you, hold their hands near the falls.
There's a second risk: sudden water releases from the Machkund dam. In August 2025, a release swept a YouTuber away at Duduma. Stay out of the water and well back from the stream.
Getting down to the base
From the parking, about 900 steps lead down to the falls. The climb back up is hard, so carry enough water, and some chocolate for energy. The winch ride down to the base, built in 1948, is not open to tourists.
If your group includes grandparents, small children or anyone with knee trouble, watch the falls from the viewpoints at the top rather than taking the steps.

Duduma in one day: our full-day plan from Koraput
- By 7 am: leave Koraput, with breakfast packed.
- Mid-morning: reach the Duduma viewpoints and spend an hour or two there.
- Afterwards: Onukadelli market if it's a Thursday. On other days, the Machkund valley and lunch.
- By evening: back in Koraput, because the road is slow after dark.
If anyone in your group gets car-sick, we keep the front rows and window seats for them.
Duduma vs Rani Duduma: two different waterfalls
Rani Duduma sits at the top of Nandapur Hill in Koraput district, 26 km from Semiliguda and 48 km from Koraput town.
Rani Duduma is on a different road from Duduma. So our itineraries pair it with Deomali and Nandapur instead.
