From cities to Koraput
From Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Kolkata, Google's fastest route on the day we checked ran down NH 16 to Visakhapatnam and up through Araku, avoiding a closure on NH 16. The shorter road through Berhampur and Rayagada (487 km from Bhubaneswar) took about 11 hours. Most groups from these cities come by train.

Planning with these figures
- Two hilltops, one morning. Talamali and Kalyamali are 5.6 km apart by road, close enough to see both before lunch. Talamali and Kalyamali have the rest.
- Deomali is a Semiliguda drive. The road up goes through Semiliguda: 32 km from there, 53 km from Koraput town. The Deomali guide has sunrise timings.
- Gupteswar is a Jeypore drive. It is closer to Jeypore than to Koraput, so a Gupteswar day usually runs through Jeypore. The Gupteswar guide has the day plan.
