What Subai is
The district describes Subai as a roadside village with the relics of a Jain monastery, and Koraput was once a centre of Jain culture. Local Goudo families still worship at the site.

- Small stone shrines of the triratha type, each crowned with an amalaka, the ribbed stone disc on top of an Odisha temple spire, with door frames carved with rosettes.
- An image of Rishabhanatha, the first Tirthankara, seated in meditation and surrounded by other Tirthankaras.
- A four-armed image of the yakshi Tara.
- Images identified as Mahavira, Chakreshvari and Rohini. Several are worn by the weather, so look closely.
It is still a place of worship, so dress simply and ask before you photograph anyone at prayer.
