One small plane flies the whole day: from Bhubaneswar to Jeypore, on to Visakhapatnam and back, to Bhubaneswar, and a second round trip in the afternoon. The 6:30 AM from Bhubaneswar lands at 8:05 AM, early enough for a full first day; the 10:20 AM and 2:20 PM back to Bhubaneswar suit the last day.

Visakhapatnam's new airport at Bhogapuram

Since 17 August 2026, every flight to Visakhapatnam lands at the new Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram, north of the city; the old airport in Visakhapatnam no longer has passenger flights. It has direct flights from Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata. From Bhogapuram it is 186 km to Koraput, about 4 hours 20 minutes on Google Maps, through the ghats past Araku. We pick up at the new airport for trips that start there.

Jagdalpur Airport

Jagdalpur in Chhattisgarh, 104 km from Koraput (about 2 hours 30 minutes), takes larger aircraft from Hyderabad and Raipur. It suits a trip that also takes in Chitrakote and Tirathgarh waterfalls on the Chhattisgarh side.

Flying from Kolkata

  • Kolkata to Visakhapatnam: One nonstop flight, IndiGo 6E 616, 5:45 PM to 7:10 PM daily. Stay the night, then the 9:20 AM IndiaOne Air flight to Jeypore or the drive (186 km from the new airport).
  • Kolkata to Bhubaneswar: IndiGo, three to four a day. Only the 7:50 AM (6E 7623, landing 9:15 AM; Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday) connects to the 12:30 PM Jeypore flight the same day.
  • Bhubaneswar to Visakhapatnam: No nonstop flight in October 2026. IndiaOne Air sells Bhubaneswar to Visakhapatnam with a stop at Jeypore.
