How we choose them
- Places anyone may visit, reached by a road our Traveller can take.
- Places where a group does not intrude: a working village or market is visited quietly, in small numbers.
- Hilltops only in the dry months, when the last climb is firm and the view is clear.
Visiting respectfully
- Photograph people only when they agree, and accept a no.
- At Onukadelli and Putsil, buy something from whoever is selling; it is a working market and a working village, not a show.
- Single-use plastic is banned on Deomali; carry your rubbish back from every hilltop.
- Keep to the paths on the hill grasslands.
Putting them together
- Talamali and Putsil in one early morning, back by lunch.
- Deomali at sunrise, then Nandapur and Rani Duduma on the way back, as in our 3-day plan.
- Duduma with the Onukadelli market on a Thursday.
